Running In Place

Be Here Now

Here it is…

the fast and dirty.

The old man and I are separating. Sixteen years come and gone…

It’s not as bad as it sounds - I mean, we came to a mutual agreement which we are both feeling very right about. In fact, ironically - or tragically, if you prefer - our relationship is better than it’s been in some time. I really believe that, when it’s all said and done, our friendship will remain. It’s been strong enough to sustain a marriage this long. Maybe I’ll make a better girlfriend than wife.

Now it all begins. I’ll be moving in a couple of weeks to a sweet-awesome little apartment on a horse farm. And I can ride the horses when ever I want. Do you remember a lifetime ago, when I said I wished I could be around horses more? Don’t ever say the Universe doesn’t have a sense of humor!

It’s the beginning of a great adventure.

By the way, don’t miss checking out Jack’s report on the Canandaigua 50. The dude’s got heart!

Well. Was not expecting that. But that’s how life is, isn’t it? I’m glad you’re at peace with the direction things are going, and I think countless horseback rides are just the soul-soothing activity that will get you to the other side. And yes, the universe is quite cheeky!

Maybe you can give me riding lessons next time around - wouldn’t that be cool. You’ll be fine sis, I believe in you!

Been there and done that.

Man, it really sucks too. Although, it sounds like you’ve got a pretty good grip on what is going on.

Things were better on the flip side for me, and I’m sure they will be for you too.

Oh my gosh. Well, honey, I’m really sorry, but you sound like you’re doing really well, and sometimes it’s better to end it. Been there.

Keep me posted, and if you need anything, let me know.

A door closes here, another opens there… looks like you’re moving right on down the hallway of life. Wishing you all the best in this transition, and looking forward to some horse riding posts :)

I was going to write you and comment on how awesome Hospice workers are. They know so well how things wind down to a finish and can make it all bearable.

Change can be hard. Especially after all that time. But I’m glad it’s for the good, and I’m thinking about you.
