Crappy week….
….not just a figure of speech!!
Oh man, did I get hit with a gastrointestinal bug or what!!! I am finally feeling more human today but have not run since Sunday
! I am totally doing the 5 miler on Saturday and working on rehydrating tonight and through tomorrow. I don’t know if I should run tomorrow evening or not. Originally I was not going to, but that was on the assumption that I would have gotten a couple of runs in prior. I don’t know if I should keep it a “rest” day or maybe just go for a couple of miles.
In other news, I spent my sick days at home plotting a monster trip in April (while I’m between jobs
) to see some friends and family. I plan to head down to Philidelphia first to see some friends that I actually met while in Ireland, then to DC to see my sister-in-law and her husband, on to North Carolina where I will see a very old and dear friend (and run a local 5 or 10k while I’m there - I’m thinkin’ 10), then up and over to Cincinnati to see another dear friend, then up a little farther in Ohio to see my cousin and his family before heading on home! Just me and the road baby!! Periods of solitude exclamated by time with people I love (some of whom I haven’t seen in too long). My husband, as usual, totally rocks and has completely encouraged this plan (NO - it’s cause he loves me, not cause he wants to get rid of me - Jeez!).
So. Four weeks from today I say good-by to my job and cast off into the career unknown. Five weeks from today I’ll be chillin’ in Philly. And 48 hours from now I’ll be posting again about surviving my first 5 miler and how I can’t wait to do it again!!

Lara, I don’t know what to tell you about your run before the race. I’ll leave that up to the more experienced racers. But I do want you to know you will drive right by my town on your way down 95 S from DC. Please feel free to take a break and stop in. I would love to say hello and meet you. Hey, we could meet at the gas station right off 95!! Let me know if your’re up for a break while driving.
