Lara, I just wanted to thank you, both for your post, and for all that you do with hospice. My uncle has terminal cancer, and hospice has been absolutely wonderful. Honestly, I think it is the best thing ever, in terms of terminal care. So compassionate, so needed, and so hard to imagine doing. I really, really respect you and your profession. It was wonderful to read about your friend who became a nurse. Great story, and glad it gave you such a lift.

About running: YAY!!! You are back!!! Great job. Really. I'm so happy for you.

About the food/repsonsibility issue: I hear you. I think it's a common thing with us runner types. We care about what we eat and how we are contributing to the world as a whole. Maybe it's all that time we have to think while running, or maybe we have a greater sense of humanity because of running. I don't know. Regardless, I feel like maybe I need to take another look at myself, given what you've posted. Sometimes you need to do a 10-point check, you know? :)

Kick ass, girl. That's a wonderful attitude - well, with one exception. Do yourself a favor and go out and find someone who gets as much out of lifting as you do from running. Then start running and lifting together. I know, its a tall order, but being in the gym can be fun you know - if you're with the right people...

I'm glad to hear that you're progressing so well. Moving from walk/run to run isn't the easist thing in the world, is it? Any goals yet for the RR, or is it too far out?

Wow. Lots of "deepness" in this post. JUST is a perfect mantra - we all need our own mantras to inspire us and it sounds like you found yours. And it can be applied to other areas of your life too!

And...WOOO HOOO on the running progress. 30 minutes? No problem, Lara. You are so there.

You know what's weird? I've been contemplating the effect running has had on my life. And the people who have come into my life because of running. It all started with one decision--to take a few steps.Everything for a reason...

Shucks that's a huge career shift. Can I get you another fuzzy navel? Here, let me prop your soul up a few days more. Whoa. I have the highest respect for nurses, and more so for hospice workers. You definitely can burn out, though. And there's certainly a lot of social support that can be doled out over drinks and salty popcorn. I respect that hard work nearly as much. So, you're cool. JUST.

oh my god Lara! The whole live in the moment thing has been so much on my mind lately! I mean to the point where I've been meaning to post sort of an anti-"after" message! Synchronicity is a wondrous, spooky kinda thing huh?

Good going girl!!
