It was as wonderful as I’d imagined…
Yes yes, so I’ve been walking walking walking and it has been good.
Today I ran.
Now before the fanfare begins, it was only for 15 seconds to every 1 minute walking - but it was running and it could have been flying (well, slightly less graceful than flying) for as good as I felt doing it. I did the sequence of 15 sec/1 minute 15 times as well as about 15 minutes warm up/cool down walking. By the end, my ankle was aching some but not enough that I needed to favor it at all. I iced it upon arriving home and it feels fine now.
As conservative as 15 seconds sounds, I’m happy with it. Maybe I am too skittish, I don’t know - but I’m willing to totally err on the side of caution because I can’t even describe how devastated I’d be if I exacerbated this injury again and ended up off the trail for another 3 months!! If all goes well and I’m feeling wild, maybe I’ll jack it up to 30 seconds by Saturday - that’ll be my long run for the week

Wow, that is so awesome. Listening to yourself is so important. Sounds like you love your body enough to balance the careful with a challenge to improve. Good luck on the LONG run Saturday.
