Guess who’s coming to Edmonton Friday evening? Guess who’s got nowhere else better to spend 8 hours while transferring flights?

Pamalamadingdong!

Lori and I are really excited Pam’s coming — even if we’ll only be able to spend a few hours with her.

Yay!!

With all the new bloggers out there, I thought I might introduce you to some of them. Today’s victim is Maine-ly Megin. Megin is currently training for a triathlon (rock on!) and you should see the pasta salad she’s got on there today. Yum.

Welcome to the RBF Megin! :)

1st annual rbf reunion!

passion for running category: rbf, running, running blog family on Thursday, April 27 2006

So, Aaron and I have been so impressed with all the RBF meetups, we thought it logical to take things to the next level. He said is so well, I’m posting his invitation below.

OK, heres the poop. The first weekend of August (5th, 6th and 7th) is going to be the first RBF reunion. What does this mean? This means that we want the family to get together to celebrate the RBF and to further develope the great relationships we have begun. Basically we want to party together, run together, and have a great time.

The first question you may be ask is “where is it?” Great question! Mark and I will be hosting it here in Edmonton. We will party the whole weekend as well as run you through the great river valley of Edmonton. The goal: to get to know the people we have been learning about on the RBR the past couple of years.

What if you can’t make it? Another great question! We would like others, the same weekend, to also host a reunion throughout Canada, the US, Europe, Australia, and everywhere else you live. It will the the RBF REUNION WEEKEND.

We want to really take the RBF to the next level and promote some life long friendships.

So what do I do if I am hosting a RBF reunion? Well, this is what Mark and I are going to do. We would first like to pick up those from the airport and show them around. We would also like to room and board them unless they want to get a hotel, but we hope they would be our guests. While our guests are here we will show them our beautiful city and run them through the most beautiful and extensive trail system in the world.

So we are planting the seed and watering it and we hope to have a big beautiful flower on August 5, 6,7th. What do you think – are you in?

After the weekend we want everyone to send their RBF reunion photos with a brief write-up sharing their experience. We will post all of these on the main site for the world to see.

You know what one of the most common phrases I’ve heard this past two years is?

“The RBF ROCKS”.

I see it all the time in posts, emails, comments and when chatting with you. And you’re right – the RBF does rock and now it’s gonna rock some more.

One day, people will say, “remember that 1st RBF reunion?” as we’re all gathered around a pasta primer with 5000 of our closest Running Blog Family members.

Wouldn’t that be the rock’n-ist? :)

send me a link to your favorite picture

I’m so happy. The move to dreamhost was all we needed to get the Running Blog Family Recents page working. Have you seen it lately? I’ve been adding pictures of bloggers and it sure does add a nice, warm, personal touch.

Go take a look and, if you would like to spice up the way your posts look, leave me a comment with a link to your favorite picture or graphic.

As I said, the RBR is working very well now. However, if you notice your posts are not showing up, please let me know. We’ve identified a couple of reasons which we can sort out with you if your blog is not updating on the listing.

Can you do me a favour and spread the word? Thanks! :)

runners who rock

passion for running category: running, running blog family on Thursday, December 15 2005

This is a meme…the first meme i’ve ever created so you better do it or the blogfather is comin’ after ya! ;)

Your Mission:

1-Create a post titled Runners Who Rock.
2-List three runners who rock and tell us why they rock. Make sure you provide a link to their blog!
3-Tell those three runners about the meme and tag them so they can keep it going.
4-Link to runners who rock and to the blogger who tagged you so we get a ping and can keep track of all the participants!

Ok. Here I go!

1-Annalisa at I Am Running Out of Lifetimes because the Runners Who Rock thing first appeared as the title of her running blog links and for looking so fine in her skinny pants. You rock Annalisa.
2-Nancy at Run Big for being so unbelievably honest in this post. I admire her honesty – even though she is being far too modest. You rock Nancy.
3-Scott for his part in the RBF Fest in Vegas, for designing the group’s uber-cool orange shirts, and for his success in the marathon itself. You rock Scott.

good luck to this week’s racers!

google map for the running blog family!

passion for running category: running, running blog family on Tuesday, November 29 2005

Well, our poor old Running Blog Family World Map died a long, slow death because Aaron and I simply didn’t have the time we needed to add you terrific people to it.

But Google’s come to the rescue. That’s right, we’ve rebuilt the Running Blog Family World Map using Google Maps and WordPress!

So, the RBF World Map is ready for you but it will only take off with your participation. That’s because we’ve set it up so that you enter your own information.

What are you waiting for? Run on over there, read the instructions and let’s get to building a map!
