friday’s run

passion for running category: running on Friday, August 3 2007

another good run at a low heart rate…

Time: 1:15:16
Distance: 9.32
Pace: 8.04 min/mile
Avg HR: 154 (today’s target was 155 to 160)

Some of you may be noticing that my average heart rates are often lower than my targets. That’s because of the gradual warm ups I always employ on runs. Usually my warm ups are about 15 minutes (a couple of miles) long. Of course, heart rate is lower during these warm ups bringing my average for the whole run down.

I use the skip the HR “target” approach so that I won’t be let down. *joke* Looks like what you’re doing is working well for you. :)

Hi Mark! I’m a Long Beach, CA resident, currently in training for the Mt. Baldy Run-To-The-Top. Mt. Baldy (Mt. San Antonio) is a 10,000 foot peak that presides over the L.A. Basin. This race takes place every Labor Day–and it’s tough! Eight miles in length, with 4,000 feet of climbing. I’ve posted some pix from last year’s race on my MySpace site. Thought I’d send it to you. You’re welcome to communicate the info to anyone you please. Race applications are available on-line–just google “Mt. Baldy Run-to-the-top.” I’ve done it almost every year since ’89. It’s a brilliant way to end the summer, and it’s a true test!……Matt

Wow. I’ve never averaged my warmup into any of my stats. Interesting. Thanks.
