sunday run log

passion for running category: running on Monday, July 16 2007

I was alone with the kids until Sunday afternoon (wifey was away) so I had no choice but to run late in the afternoon.

It did not go well. It was super hot and super humid.

Pace was slow, heart rate was way too low, I was sluggish, and finally ended the run after 40 minutes (60 minutes were on the schedule) thinking, the way I was feeling, more harm than good was being done.

This is the first run I’ve cut short in quite some time. The positive is that I did not skip it entirely and have, for the most part, been toughing out this heat spell very well.

saturday’s 75 minutes

passion for running category: running on Saturday, July 14 2007

Time: 1:13:46 (ran in a one minute negative split between the 1st and 2nd half of the run)
Miles; 9.14
Pace: 8:04 min/mile
Average Heart Rate: Estimating about 161 but I’m tot sure because my HRM crapped out on me.
Weather: 27C/80F with no wind

I had to run in the morning today so I was very very sluggish. As happens with morning runs, my heart rate took a long time to get up to today’s target of 165 bpm. And it was damn hot.

All that aside, today’s was a really good run.

friday run log

passion for running category: running on Saturday, July 14 2007

Time: 75:02
Distance: 7.92
Pace: 9:28 min/mile
Avg Heart Rate: 155 (on target)
Weather: 28C/82F with a slight breeze

Another hot day as evidenced by the slow pace. I ran the first half of this run in 37:02 with an average heart rate of 151. Second half was run in 38 minutes with average heart rate of 158.

Target heart rate for Friday’s run was between 150 and 155.

thursday run stats

passion for running category: running on Thursday, July 12 2007

Average Heart Rate: 154 | 1st half: 151 | 2nd half: 157
Distance: 6.54 miles
Time: 1:01:26 | 1st half: 30:50 | 2nd half: 30:35
Pace: 9:23 min/mile
Weather: 29C/89F and no wind

I’m putting mind over matter and deciding, for once, that I’m HAPPY to run in the heat. Today felt great!

And, in case you are wondering, the reason I’m listing 1st versus 2nd half run stats is to see what my cardiac drift is. If I’ve understood coach correctly, the less of a drift, the more fit I am.
