Last week’s long run was absolutely brutal (no energy). The week before, hindsight tells me I pushed the pace a bit too much (8:52 min/mile). Today was just right. I am depleted but not completely exhausted. I think it will set me up well for the rest of the week.

In other news, I submitted the following video clip to the posetech forum. I got really excellent encouragement from some of the gurus (Jack is King there). Historically, I’ve been nervous about posting video there because the coaches can be perfectionists whose detailed comments can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. That said, the coaches there are really excellent and have the best of intentions – to help you achieve good Pose Method running form.

It turns out that today my nervousness was not warranted – all I got was positive praise. I am relieved. Before I posted the video, I thought my form was looking and feeling good but, I was not certain of it. Now I am. That’s a good feeling for someone who’s spent the better part of two years at this!

So, for those of you who are interested, here is a link to a full-sized video of me Pose Method running (QuickTime mov format). In case you don’t have QuickTime, I’ve also embedded a smaller, more universally viewable Google Video version below.

I am completely unfamiliar with the Pose method of running. Watching your video, I can see quite a few differences between the way I (think) I run and how you do. I presume you’re a big proponent of it since you’ve mentioned it a lot and it’s a dedicated link in your nav bar.

You look very comfortable, smooth and effortless in the video. Something I’d like to be more of in my stride.

Thanks for sharing the video.

That’s really good form.

I also see the Silver Core jacket, WindPro hat and a house in west Edmonton.

Is that a normal amount of snow? Seems like way too much. And what kind of shoes are you wearing? Are they special pose shoes?

Kurt: Thank you. I am finally at a point where I feel quite relaxed running in Pose. It took a while to get here…

Adeel: Thanks for the compliment. You have amazing powers of observation. ;)

Deene: You probably need to install/upgrade adobe flash.

Susan: We got TONS of snow this winter. That said, what you see in this video is NOTHING compared to what I’ve been running in. As for the shoes, a majority of Pose Method runners prefer Puma H-Street shoes because they are pretty much the lightest things you can put on your feet. Here is a link to the latest four pairs I bought. The green ones are the ones in the video.

I’m going to look into the Pose Method. It looks like the way I feel when I run, but I need to do some more research. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Hi Mark, I’m pretty new to CRN and just found your Blog. Well done on a great blog. It looks like you’ve got heaps of good stuff here. This Pose method is intriguing and something I might have to look into some more as I’ve had some injuries also which take some careful managing. I’m no marathoner but did complete my first half last year and am keen for some more if I can stay fit. Feel free to check out my blog its more of a general sports & fitness blog. I’ll put a link there to you and would appreciate it if you could reciprocate. cheers o and I hope you start to get some warmer weather soon!
