What a brutal run. Today’s hard run was compounded by: Sluggishness, unbelievable wind and slush/water puddles. It felt enormously exhausting even though I was unable to get my heart rate and pace where I would have liked them to be.

Time: 61:20 minutes
Distance: 7.36 miles
Pace: 8:20 minutes per mile
Average Heart Rate: 163 bpm

I hope things are better for tomorrow’s long run (2.5 hours).

Tough conditions to run in, for sure. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Good luck!

Yeah, I hope tomorrow is better for you. I had quite a bit of wind today as well, but I don’t think nearly what you described. Yesterday was my sluggish day, today a little better.

Not being able to get the heart rate up to where you want it is a classic sign of training to ‘the edge’. Might want to take a step back without any guilt. Rest up, limber up. Cool the engines, put your sunglasses on.

Hold on Mark and remember there are runners with tougher circumstances. Good luck for two and a half hours run.

Hi Mark,
I’m enjoying reading your blog, but I have some catching up to do. Is there an easy way to figure out what your general plan and goals are for now? Thanks!
