good recovery

passion for running category: running on Tuesday, February 13 2007

I was dead tired after yesterday’s total depletion and really wondered how today’s run was going to play out. However, as has been the case lately, by the time almost a full 24 hours had past, I was feeling “not bad”. Keeping that in mind, and last week’s meltdown two days after the long run, my focus was on making today’s 90 minutes, a pure recovery run. I targeted 150 bpm – here are the results:

Time: 1:30
Distance: 9.94 miles
Pace: 9:03
Average Heart Rate: 152

It was a good, easy run that did the trick …I feel recovered. What’s interesting about the run is how it compared in pace and heart rate to yesterday’s long run.

Yesterday: pace was 8:52 at 158 bpm.
Today: pace was 9:03 at 152 bpm.

Pretty small difference between those numbers. Hmmmm…
