A Passion for Running

Welcome to the home of Mark aka The Running Blogfather – a 40 year-old dad, husband and marathon runner who's beaten injury and is on the comeback trail!

passion for running category: running on Wednesday, January 3 2007

Note to self: Dark=Dangerous

The gym at work is closed till Thursday due to renovations so I had to run after work today. It was dark. It was also very icy. I slipped and fell onto an icey, concrete sidewalk going around a corner. Ouch.

And I was not fueled for the run not having eaten since noon – five hours earlier.

So, I was a bit slower than the last couple of runs but, as they say, “the money’s in the bank”.

Time: 1:01:15
Pace: 8:19 min/mile
Average Heart Rate: 160 (had a hard time working higher than that today).

Ouch! one reason i did not join my run group last night was the slick surfaces, I need to get some screws in my old shoes for traction on snow and ice. Fortunately i have a headlamp to take care of the dark part. take care.
