here’s to warmups & not making stupid mistakes
So, my last post got a bit of a reaction from both the coach and from 21stCenturyMom. Both of you are, of course, right – I need to be careful that I warm up properly for these hard efforts.
Basically, I’ve been pushing …testing, really. Testing to see where the boundaries are and, your concerns are accurate – five minutes is not much of a warmup – especially when I’m already feeling sluggish.
Five minutes did feel like pushing the envelope a bit too far compared to the last hard run where my warm up seemed just right at between seven and eight minutes.
That said, as Andrew pointed out in an email I got this morning, some days I may need longer than seven or eight minutes.
So thanks you two. Thanks Andrew for your diligence guiding me through this new territory and thanks to you 21stCenturyMom for your very valid concern.
I’m not sure if I’ve shared this with anyone yet, but one of my mantras for this training program is don’t make any stupid mistakes. Note the emphasis on stupid. I will undoubtedly make mistakes over the next few months/years/lifetime, but I hope to limit the stupid factor for as long as possible.
And you are certainly helping in that regard!
