numbers
- it was -5C = 23F yesterday! It felt like a spring day compared to the last week or so!
- Today is my 16th day in a row running. My last stretch lasted 13 days.
- I’ve had one day off running in the last 30 days. That’s by far the most consistency I’ve ever had. What amazes me most is that I just keep feeling better and better.
- I’ve lost 5 pounds in the last five weeks. More importantly, I can see fat being trimmed off my sides and stomach area.
Today’s run was the first really enjoyable run I’ve had in over a week. Why? First, it wasn’t a BILLION degrees below zero (it was only about a million). Second, the trails were largely clear so I got to run on hard packed snow instead of the five inch deep lumpy pudding I’ve been running in for the past week. Third, it didn’t snow today – hallelujah! Details:
Time: 60 minutes
Intensity: 15 minutes warmup + 30 minutes hard + 15 minutes a bit less hard
Average Heart Rate: 163
Distance: 6.66 miles (the devil’s son was chasing me)
Pace: 9:00 minutes per mile (am guessing it was sub 8:30 during the hard portion)

Hey Mark,
I haven’t posted a comment in awhile, but I’ve been reading about your progress every day, and I’ve been wanting to drop a line to say: you’re doing awesome. I’m enjoying the progress reports, and can’t imagine running in the blistering cold weather, as I’m from the tropical island of Guam and what we worry about is the heat and humidity. Anything below 70 degress is cold for us.
Anyway, keep up the great work and know that me, and many others like me, are keeping up with you even if you don’t see our comments everyday.
