a new record for going SLOW

passion for running category: running on Monday, November 20 2006

Please do not be offended if this is not slow for you. We compare ourselves to ourselves right?

MY GOD that was a slow run. I set out to run it very slow because it is my long slow run, but also because I was making the jump from 90 minutes to 120 minutes and I wanted a little insurance for finishing strong. Even so, whoa – that was a slow run.

Pace 10:45 per mile (I’m not sure I’ve ever run that far that slow!)
Mileage: 12.19
Average Heart Rate: 151 (I feel better seeing that the HR was very low)
Time: 2 hours 11 minutes. The extra 11 minutes resulted from underestimating the distance of a loop I added to today’s run.

The run got pretty tough in the last fifteen minutes which means if I’d have run the scheduled 2 hours, it would have only been tough for four minutes. I can live with that and I think I’ll leave the extra 11 minutes in there for the next seven weeks.

I’m a bit sore. Nothing a little Ibuprofen won’t fix.

So I’ve got 90 minutes scheduled for tomorrow. This is going to be one heckuva week!
