3 bricks short of a triathlon load

passion for running category: running on Thursday, June 15 2006

Lots of people are talking about, and doing triathlons lately. Aaron recently did one, Jeff just did one and I know that’s just scratching the surface.

So, today, I rode my bike to work (10 miles) and then ran at lunch (4 miles). I thought that counted as a brick but nooooo, according to this link that defines a triathlon brick, what I did today was not a brick – I have to do them one after another without a break in between.

Well lah. dee. dah.

I guess I will have to come up with my own term. Little help?

Have I mentioned I still have to ride back home? Doesn’t that count for something? ;)

Brick schmrick…

Maybe on your way to work you can ride the bike for the first 5 miles….lock the bike to a post….then run the rest of the way…and reverse on the way home…then you can say you did two bricks in one day…of course clothing could be an issue

I’d call it “Two Hard Workouts.” Where did the name “brick” come from anyway??

it’s called ‘doubling’. or, in your case, ‘tripling’.

i like haight’s suggestion. either bike in your running shoes and wear some tri shorts, or bike in your biking shoes and run barefoot.

then you’d be truly hardcore, ‘doubling’ bricks.

This isn’t from any official source, but I’ve heard that the term brick comes from bike-run-ick,.

I heard it’s because your legs feel like a ton of brick by the time you start the second leg of the workout!
