back on the bike!

In 2004 I rocked the bike commute to work averaging 2 to 3 commutes a week. Last year I was a slacker. The reasons for my slackerishness were two-fold:

1) I sucked
2) With the half sized locker, I got tired of making the clothing thing work. I had no room to put stuff and carrying it with me sucked because my clothes would wrinkle by the time I got to work.

So when the manager of my fitness center recently asked if I’d be interested in upgrading my half locker to a full sized one, I reacted so fast I think I threw my back out.

I’ve set up the locker so it almost has a whole wardrobe in it. I’ve got two tiered hangers in it – one that can hold six shirts and another that can hold six pairs of pants. And I’ve got a whack of socks and undies in the top part of the locker.

This morning was my first test ride and it was terrrific. The ten miles took 47 minutes including 3 minutes at traffic lights. That’s not bad considering it was my first ride and I wasn’t pushing it.

And the new locker was awesome. I’m officially back on the bike!

Congrats buddy. With you biking that leaves a little more room in the air for the exhaust coming from my SUV!

Awesome. It’s a very cool feeling to be able to combine training with something as basic as commuting. Plus, you can thumb your nose at the gas companies.

Go Mark!

It must feel liberating in a sense to not have to commute to work by automobile anymore. Take that gas prices!

I see someone beat me to this, sort of… But any plans to wear the running skirt while riding…lol.

I’m envious, you get lockers, showers, etc. We get nothing. But I figure if the other guy can stink of cigarettes, I can stink of sweat. Good luck with the commute.

I do the same. I commute twice a week to work. It is a 9 mile commute one way with 7 lights and 3 hills. When I started it took me an hour one way (cause I got lost)…the best was day before yesterday. I upgraded my bike to Rockhopper aluminium with road tires and wolah my best commute time is 34 mins..now that is faaast.
