Welcome to the home of Mark aka The Running Blogfather - a 40 year-old dad, husband and marathon runner who’s beaten injury and is on the comeback trail!

running skirt video debut

passion for running category: running, running skirt challenge on Monday, May 8 2006

Ummm…here it is as a Quicktime mov file (H.264 codec) and as an avi file (divx codec). They’re both pretty big downloads - 25 and 28 megabytes respectively, but the first file (the .mov file) is a bit smaller with better quality. May 8 edit: I have uploaded one more version of the video file - here is an mp4 videoclip.

They should work with the latest up to date version of Apple’s Quicktime Player and might work with Windows Media Player. If you can’t play them, do yourself a big favor and download the free VLC Media Player - one of the best things out there for playing virtually anything. If you have problems viewing or hearing, get in touch with me and I’ll see what I can do.

Everyone, I can’t thank you enough for your donations. You rock. Totally.

Oh, in case you’re new here, I don’t make a habbit of this kind of thing (honest!). Here’s the explanation. Please read it. PLEASE! ;-)

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!

Damn good vid, Mark! :D

By the way, I couldn’t help but analyze your stride while you did that (trying to not look higher than your knees because…egads). I noticed that your right ankle has some serious pronation, and you swing your right elbow out farther than normal to compensate. Check out the track shots where you are coming straight at and running away from the camera.

I think this video may give you more insight into your running than just fashion.

Dahlink,
You looked mahvalous and is always better to look good than to feel good, you know??

I think what that outfit really needed was some pink socks.

Only a real man would be able to pull that off so pinky pink outfit not withstanding, I think you proved your manhood, your dedication to serving others and your sense of humor.

I’d like to thank the 30 people who failed to make a pledge. I think a private showing was sufficient. ;-)

That was BRILLIANT! And hilarious! Your wife deserves an award for direction and cinematography–and for a few other things…public humiliation, maybe? I’m so glad you brought your kids! no gender stereotyping in your family! I still say, you don’t look half bad in that thing! I especially love the stair workout with the jump over the railing at the end!

I can’t wait to get to work to show it to everyone in the office!!!

Well done. A new career awaits you.

Awesome Mark! You are a true sport. But hey, what was it like? Is it worth the money if you’re female? Product review man…come on. Don’t hold out on us.

i am speachless.

um…uh…at least the money went to a worthy cause.

see, i thought it would be fun and comical…but that was just plain disturbing. the problem is that pink isn’t your colour. now, a baby blue or a lavendar, maybe…

Great video, Mark! You’ve got nice legs … I’m not sure pink is your color, though.

YOUR HIRED!!

Hope you didn’t pull anything with all those bounding leaps and splits! Special thanks to your wife for the fantastic (patience) camera work - how she held the camera so still through what had to have been full belly laughs is amazing.

Thanks again for your support & especially to all the completerunning.com contributors for supporting so many great causes!

I think this video was way better than any race footage would have been. The private filming allowed you to “be yourself” more and in a race, you probably would have been too self-conscious to do all the leaps and jumps. Thanks for entertainment!

oh my god! Unlike Jon in Michigan soon to be in NY, I could not keep my eyes below the knees, I was trying but they just keep veering up. I feel so bad! you definitely have a future in performing in cross-dressing shows in P-town. I want to know do you think the skort would prevent chubby-rub?

Brilliant! The Bra was a little pointless, unless you kept you mobile phone in one side and your car keys in the other.
The colour was a bit savage though!
Well done, I know you only wore it to raise some money for worth while causes, but you must admit a skirt IS more comfortable for a man than shorts.
As a guy who sometimes wears a skirt when the weather is hot, I am aware that the in built air con, that comes with a skirt is worth the ridicule.
Oh, this may be in the wrong part of the blog, but over here in England we have “Macmillan Nurses, they are a charity funded group of support workers for those in the terminal stage of cancers, so I donated a few quid to them. Thanks for a good read and brightening up my Friday afternoon.

Great video. Very funny.
Looks like it was very comfortable to wear. Maybe it will spark a trend of men in skirts,(definatly be cool in the summer heat).

Hopefully this wil inspire more people to do stuff like this for charity. Great idea.

Re Video: I don’t see why this isn’t a unisex item. Why not promote it for men? Cooler and less constricting than shorts and there is no reason “why not” other than homophobia and “not yet in fashion” but who cares? Looks extremely practical and maybe this would be the spark that sets off a fashion revolution like when women stole men’s pants, shorts, boxers and everything else from the men’s side of the wardrobe not that long ago. This would be a welcome alternative to men’s boring boring fashion.
