How do you follow-up an awesome, hard run? With an easy day? Apparently not.

I was heading out for a slow, easy, 30 minute jaunt along Millcreek Ravine when I happened up my friend Nick. We haven’t run together in several months and I didn’t think we’d be running together today either. Why? Because he planned on doing the four sisters route in reverse and I figured it would be too much the day after my hard run with Aaron yesterday.

Nick left the gym and I followed a minute or two later – something pulling me in the direction he’d gone. A moment later, I had him in my sights not really knowing what I was planning. I caught up to him at the only traffic light on the way and asked if I could tag along for “as long as I am able”. Had I said that?

He was game so off we went.

It was a tough run but Nick went easy on the pace and, after 30 minutes of running, I got the lead out and felt pretty darn good.

I’ve got a good three week stretch going here and am finding myself thinking more and more about going fast…and long. :)

Yay Mark! I’m so glad to read these upbeat reports. Not that you can’t ever have a down day, but this is so good:)

Hey Mark,

Nice site, very thorough and full of good links. Sorry to hijack this comment thread, but I was interested in discussing some concepts with you on the topic of form development. If you’re interested, you can reach me at riyaad@hotmail.com.

And in regards to your post, I actually just came back from a similar situation. I was out for a run which was only supposed to last no longer than 30 minutes (I’m coming back from a week off) when I spotted a friend warming up at Queen’s Park. He was running 1200′s, and I decided to jump in. Mind you my breathing was a bit laboured (as always happens with me when I take time off), but it just felt really smooth. Considering I’ve only been jogging for the past few days, it felt good.

Cheers!
