Hello Blogfather. If I had know I were the other Susan, I would changed my name to something exciting like Simone or Francesa . . . hmmm, for once - I was the other woman. I have been sinning - not running much at all.

Thank you for the comment on my blog.

How funny that it's totally relevant, even 2 years later! I think "technology" changes so fast that we forget some stuff stands the test of time.

Blogfather,

You have completely enlightened me. I always thought heart rate monitors were a waste of time, but now that I know the consequences of wasted energy on a four hour marathon, I think I'm going to get one. Maybe if I can get my form issues worked out I'll be more efficient and break through the four hour barrier finally. Thanks again for the informative post!

Very interesting info... I never would have known that squinting/tight fists/tight shoulders could add up to 10 bpm! I just bought one a few months ago, and started using it recently (although I am on a bit of a hiatus from seriously running as I try to finish my dissertation). I have been using it to try to stay in the aerobic zone, and I noticed that day to day, there is a heck of a lot of variation in how fast I can run and still stay within in that zone. That lack of sleep, hydration, etc., probably explains it. Very interesting!
