was paul bunyon a runner?
No? Well, apparently I am now a lumberjack so I’ve got him beat…
I haven’t done much running this past couple of days although I swam and (to the point of this post) felled a tree on Saturday.
Lori and I have a very small front yard that had a very big spruce tree smack-dab in the middle of it. It was a huge tree for the size of the lawn. So huge we could not keep the lawn healthy. The thing was a water hog. Plus, it was super-ugly to boot. Kind of like a huge version of the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. It had to go.
And go it did! I spent three + hours Saturday morning digging around and chopping out the roots. Then, in the afternoon, Aaron came over for the lumberjacking part.
The short story is that we did a masterful job. We felled the tree in such a way so that all the roots came out of the ground using the weight of the tree.
But that tree did not go down without a fight…I’m so sore! And, I’ve sustained an injury in my wrist. A really bad one. I can’t lift anything with my left arm without considerable pain. ugg. I’m going to give it a couple more days and if it doesn’t get better, I’m off to see my doctor.
Next post will be about running…promise.

In other news, I delivered 240 liters of juice to my place on Sunday and Aaron, my dad and I started this years batch of wine last night. I love the smell of fermenting wine. mmmmmmmmmm…
