pull my finger!

passion for running category: friends & family, running on Thursday, September 29 2005

I had a rather crappy 45 minute run with Aaron tonight. The company was fine – I just felt like crap the whole way. It seems I’m fighting a cold.

To the title of tonight’s post: I played pull my finger with Christopher tonight. It was the first time we’d done that and I’m kind of surprised I hadn’t thought of it before. I must be slipping. Anyway, Christopher loved it so much I felt a bit inadequate when I could only respond to the finger pulling three times. He giggled and giggled and giggled and damn near pulled my finger off trying to get a fourth response out of daddy. I guess I’ll have to eat some beans or something tomorrow. Still, he went to bed smiling so it wasn’t a total loss.

The wife and daughter were not amused. It’s usually when I post something like this when I check my logs and notice I had a visitor from that Forbes thing. I’m sure those Forbes readers really appreciate coming here to see this kind of thing after reading A Passion for Running was a “best” kind of place to come to. It appears I’ve sunken to a new low on this blog.

That said, it’s GREAT to be a guy!

LOL – We’ve got much the same vibe over at our house. Three boys (five if you count the cat and dog, ‘cept they’re kind of, well, neither) and one girl…

The best is the dog, who gets awful gas whenever he gets people food (and who does way too often, thanks to a toddler and a 5 year old at the table), then spends the evening running away from his own butt. The boys think that there’s nothing funnier. I, of course, am above such vulgar humor ;)

I think you are the epitome of fatherhood in teaching your son the joys of “pull my finger” games, rather than having sunk to a new low. All boys need to know that there are things they can do that others can’t, hehe!
