a surprise for you!
Guess what I’ve been working on?
I spent this weekend making a pretty cool addition to the RBF Directory. What kind of addition? Well, I’ve added a web based aggregator to the directory! It’s works sort of like bloglines but with some neato differences.
The RBF Directory now pings RBF member blogs once every 60 minutes. The ping lets the directory know when you have posted and then collects some information:
-the name of your blog
-the time of your post
-the title of your post
-the URL of your post
Once it’s got all that, it makes a lovely (if I do say so myself) list of recent RBF posts! The listing contains the title of your post with a link back to your post + your name, the name of your blog and more.
AND you can customize your listing with a picture of yourself or a graphic from your blog! To get an idea of how this can look, go to the directory and look for a few I’ve already set up with a picture/graphic. If you want to customize your listing, just send me a picture or graphic and I’ll put it on there for ya.
AND you can even click on a calendar date and see posts from a particular date!
Although the directory updates every hour, you can ping it when you post so your post gets added sooner. To do this, you need a link from me so send me an email if you want the link.
To get to this feature, go to the directory and click on the link titled “Recent Blog Posts” which is located near the top right hand corner of the directory.
One last thing: The description from your blog is also included in the main directory. It’s gets fed into the RBF from your blog which means if you don’t like how the description of your blog looks on the RBF directory, you can change it at YOUR end and your listing will be changed the next time you post. Idea: Include your location so people know where you are from.
Let me know what you think!

Very cool, Mark! Bloglines for running blogs. I noticed you also picked up the subtitles for the RBF list too, or was it always like that?
