A Passion for Running

Welcome to the home of Mark aka The Running Blogfather – a 40 year-old dad, husband and marathon runner who's beaten injury and is on the comeback trail!

passion for running category: running on Monday, September 12 2005

Well, I’d planned to race this past Sunday in a 5k. It would have been my first race since October of last year. It also would have been my first barefoot race. Alas, when I planned this one, I failed to realize it was the day after my brother-in-law’s wedding and there’s just no way I’d ever race (let alone run) at 8:00 a.m. after being at a party like that.

I unsuccesfully tried to plan a couple of races this fall and am wondering if the running gods are trying to tell me something – namely that I should be happy to have done the important stuff – that being getting over injury, learning the pose method of running and taking up barefoot running. I wonder if I’m supposed to save my return back to racing for later.

At any rate, I haven’t given up entirely on racing this fall and am going to go look at some race calendars to see what else might be coming up. One thing’s for sure – I miss races and not being in any is a test of the soul.

Care to do your first barefoot Marathon in Calgary? Join Karen, who will be doing her first ever marathon, I’ll be doing my 2nd or maybe 3rd and hopefully a whole lot of other great RBFers as well.

I just posted my training and race schedule. You could always join us for a XC race this winter.

I know what it’s like to wrestle with the race scheduling gods … it’ll happen when it’s meant to!

PS: Which radio station!?

Can’t wait to hear the pitter-patter of RBF feet on the radio, Mark. :)
