Thanks! I love/adore/worship my Forerunner, but I can run without it, as I purposely don’t use it for my clinic runs. It feels a bit naked when I don’t wear it, but I figure it’s good for me. I’ve been considering an iPod, but am not sure if I wanna be that gadgeted-up.

well, it used to be just a watch. i was such a purist. but now i’ve taken to the occasional mp3 usage and my forerunner addiction. since my 201 has crapped out on me so many times, i’m learning to run pure again. so, the only gadget i have to run with is a watch.

I agree – I love having the nike gadget but I don’t *need* it…just nice to have! I can run without it! I swear!

Gotta have my MP3 player. I started out with a 128mg, traded up to a 256 not long after and yesterday I got a new PINK (of course) 512 with an expansion slot. Now I can go for real, real, real long runs…lol.

Ok that one showed up. Weird.

My original comment….I have to have my MP3 player when I run alone. I started out with a 128mg and hubby traded me up to a 256 so he could have my 128. Well yesterday he was a sweetie and bought me a cool Pink one (of course) thats a 512 and has an expansion slot. Now I can run for a real, real, real long time…lol. :-)

For a while, I was running without a watch. Actually, that happened twice this year for about a month each time. I just use a plain watch and I never bother taking splits, even for intervals.

It’s a carefully crafted image. :-)

I can’t run without my watch (’cause I’m so outta shape that the “3 minutes running:2 minutes walking” is an eternity!) and my mp3 player!

Definately don’t want to run without my gadget. :)

Yeah, the Forerunner is a serious addiction and running without it would totally suck. I guess if I couldn’t have that I’d need a watch or something to time myself.

Forerunner, though I haven’t used it in a while. It really makes you honest.

Hard to believe, but I’ve pretty much weaned myself of gadgets. Much happier now.

I still use all of the above at times, but my better runs are the ones with none.

Well, I can run without my iPod, but I really need some sort of music. (Except sometimes in a race situation, where there are other people and spectators around.)

Its hard to say what I’d give up first, my forerunner or podcasts. I’ve only had my forerunner for two runs now and its already on equal footing with the iPod, so probably, come the revolution, the iPod will be the first to get the axe.

I almost always have my forerunner, but less because I use it for all it’s clever functions, and more just because I’m crap at pacing myself, and as a relatively inexperienced runner, I wanted to be able to start understanding which paces were slow, brisk, hard etc for me. I like being able to measure how far I’ve gone. But I certainly don’t *need* it. There have been several occasions where I have deliberately gone out without it on, because the run wasn’t about going a certain distance in a certain time, it was just about running. I never run with music – Where I live in East London, I think it would be a safety hazard, especially for a woman.

I was never into running with music until my husband bought me a Shuffle for Valentine’s Day.

I have a Speed/Distance thingy that has yet to be calibrated.

Awesome sight, by the way

I can stop running with my ForeRunner any day I want to. Really. Yeah.
