I truly love the mountains but if this were it I’d go for the canyons of Utah, similar to the photos of someone’s site at http://sangres.com/np/bigbend.htm probably by myself, with good music, hopefully with some rain, recent snow and no sandstorms.

I’d have to run the Rideau canal one more time, end-to-end. Quite possibly, I’d run the entire marathon route.

Definately have to be a race! Long runs just don’t cut it, especially since there aren’t any good snacks at the end.

One more vote for the mud: preferrably a 10k (or 12k, to be European) cross country race with cold rain and lots of hills.

Interesting use of “balls-out”. Did you get that from me, because I use it a lot, but mostly in person.

Gotta be with my Brother, Nephew #1, Nephew #2 and my longtime running partner Carla! Those are the folks I helped to either start continue or get better at their running so I wouldn’t feel right without sharing my last run with all of them and I want to run as long as all of us can!

Definitely along an ocean, friend would be nice, too. And it would be smooth and easy, long and peaceful, lots of conversation and quiet moments of reflection. Man, I get sad just thinking about a last run:(

I’m with Dianna! Mud absolutely included. Add in a temp of about 20C/68F with lots of big ol’ trees along the route. Put a nasty rival about a minute behind me and a friendly one just ahead, whom I’ve never beat, whom I beat in the last 30 seconds. Throw in a good picture of me competing, big yummy cookies and soup at the finish, and I’m happy for life.

I think I’ve just talked myself into next year’s Moose Mountain. Hey wait a minute…

Oh. Tough one.

And I’d have to combine two answers too: A wooded trail run (mountain, valley, doesn’t matter)…and with a friend or two. And for as long as I could stand it. Til I was bleeding and broken and utterly exhausted at the end, nothing left in the tank and years to repair the toe damage.
