I ran in the rain today and it was g-l-o-r-i-o-u-s! There is no question my vote in today’s poll was properly registered. Add to that the fact I hit a new personal best and it was a very good day.

Today’s run consisted of a twenty seven minute warmup, followed by a one minute standing break, followed by my fastest marked mile ever – 6:27! The first 1/2 mile was done in 3:05 and, for a time, I wondered if I could hang on to come in at 6:15 but, alas, it wasn’t to be. I’m a-ok with that since I ran it with good form and it was a 100% effort – even though I must thank God noone was there at the end to witness my 30 second dry-heaving episode. :(

Anyway, I finished the run with seven minutes cool down and then reflected on the victory under a nice hot shower. I wondered why lately I’ve felt compeled to do these speed tests and quickly realized it’s all about building confidence. The past year sucked alot of that out of me and I need to have these little victories to get back on the horse.

Yippee kiyaa mudder trucker!

We all need those victories and I’m so glad you’re getting them. (And I think of you every time I run in the rain:))
