I went out for about 40 minutes at lunch today. I chose a fairly flat route so I could focus strictly on basic form instead of having to contend with hill climbing and descending.

Conditions were perfect – about 20C, and everything was clicking nicely so I pushed the barefoot distance part of the run. In the end, I logged about 30 minutes with absolutely no wear and tear on the soles of my feet.

I’m a pretty happy camper. Doing a 5k barefoot race in August or September is looking more than possible.

SWEET! 40 minutes is a nice run, Mark!

That barefoot race is going to be so cool. I can just hear the “whoo whoo’s” from the women now! :D

Hey Mark… just wanted to check in. You’re doing such an awesome job with the running! I went running around my house on the grass for about ten minutes the other day, in the hopes that some regular barefoot running will help strengthen my feet. Anyway. Keep up the blogging, you’ve done so much for the running community!

I just want to know where you folks run barefoot? There are no places around me that I’d feel confident I wouldn’t end up with glass or some such thing in my feet!

Wait, your longest barefoot run has been forty minutes? Don’t I feel stupid.

Well done.

A barefoot 5K?! Wow! Will you shave your feet before the big race? Just kidding. Very impressive.

So… What do you do with your shoes while you’re running barefoot? Do you carry one in each hand, or stash them somewhere?

That race sounds like a good plan to me. Do you know what the road conditions will be like?
