thou shalt not tear off blister skin

I am a posting machine today…

It is a mistake to tear off blister skin. It is a mistake to tear off blister skin. It is a mistake to tear off blister skin.

In a direct comparison between two blisters; One which I tore the skin off of and one which I did not, the clear winner with regard to healing and toughening up of the feet it to leave the DAMN skin alone so that it can tear off in it’s own good time! Leaving it on allows the skin underneath to harden appropriately. Tearing it off just leaves wimpy, soft, tender skin exposed to the rigours of the world.

Capice?

You might try applying Barbasol shave cream (the regular – in the red, white, and blue can) to the bottoms of your feet once or twice a day to toughen the skin. We used this in homecare to prevent pressure ulcers in bedbound folks – it’s amazing!

Compeed is brilliant for blisters, if you can get it outside of Europe.

I hope your blister heals soon. I just saw an ad in Fitness magazine for Advanced Healing Blister Band-Aids. I wonder if they really work or if it?s just a gimmick.
