Three days in a row is my record for consecutive runs over the last three or four months and could I ever tell. I was tired during the run, and I’m tired now and that’s after what many would call a teansy-weansy little run!

Oh well, perspective perspective perspective. Seems to be the Sesame Street word of the week.

Yesterday, while outside playing with the boy and wearing my old structured Nike’s, I decided to run 20 meters a couple of times in my old heel-striking form. Strangely enough (and happily enough), I was surprised to learn that I am unlearning that old form because it did not feel normal. The bigger surprise though was how absolutely AWFUL it felt to run that way. I was almost overwhelmed with the pounding sensations that racked my body during those short little test runs. It made me wonder how I ever did all that running prior to switching to the new form.

I ain’t never goin’ back!

it’s EXACTLY all about perspective. take into account the changes you’re making, your average mileage over the past few months, amount of stress you’ve had, amount of rest you’ve had…all those come into play here.

i’m just excited to continue to hear your enthusiasm for running, POSE and life.

and ouch on the heel strike. i’ve done that before, too, and it hurts!

But the structured shoes look alot cooler than the racing flats. Maybe you could paint your toenails when you switch to barefoot. :D

Hey wouldn’t that be funny? Paint your feet the color (colour?) of racing shoes! OMG! You HAVE to do this for that 5K, Mark!

That’s a HILARIOUS idea Jon!

(but my Puma’s are WAY cooler than the Nike’s)

HA! That is hilarious, do it if only for a picture to post!

I used to run with a heel strike and had a ton of trouble with my knees, I was so amazed at the near instant fix when I finally quit doing it!

I was wearing ridiculous shoes the other day, and needed to hustle down the hall at school. So I kicked off my shoes and trotted barefoot down to the other end. I mean, I know, it’s only about 100 yards, but I had to think of you!
