A Passion for Running

Welcome to the home of Mark aka The Running Blogfather – a 40 year-old dad, husband and marathon runner who's beaten injury and is on the comeback trail!

Did another 7k today – the first three in my shoes and the last four barefoot.

I felt tired and sloppy and the outcome showed it. I got my first blisters from running barefoot exactly on the balls of both feet. While it is good they are on the balls of my feet (that’s where I’m supposed to land), the blisters indicate friction so I must have been pushing off. I’m definitely not happy about that. Anyway, the blisters are not too bad but I will have to give them three or four days to heal before I can barefoot it again.

Argh!

Just found your blog, I LOVE your header!

I have my first marathon in three days, so I’ll be reading a lot of this site between now and then ;)

It’s the two steps forward, one step back, isn’t it Mark? I’m sure you will manage this…such big change takes time. Hang in there.

Sucks. The bummer is if you can feel it when you are running shod too. I was worried my blister would make me adjust my form so it didn’t hurt when I ran. It didn’t, but I did worry about it. :)
