I went for another run yesterday. This time I tried for a little more speed and was instantly reminded that I’m not very fit!

I’m guessing I did most of it at about an 8:30 min/mile pace. However, I did push it for one marked kilometer which I ran in 5 minutes even – an 8 min/mile pace. I’m not sure how to evaluate that kilometer since it occurred right after a couple of challenging hills. I guess I’m ok with it. How do you say? Meh?

Overall I was happy with the run but, as I said above, was reminded how unfit I am by having to take several walk breaks.

Oh well. This too shall pass…

:)

Funny how we judge our level of fitness – If I could do that pace I’d be doing cartwheels! :-)

I’m too lazy to track down your marathon PB, but I’m guessing it’s around 3:40 or so. If so, running at 8:00 is a little faster than marathon pace for you, which is a little challenging. That’s like if I was running at around 6:20 pace, which is nothing to write home about for me, but not an easy jog either.

Fitness comes back, and it can happen in a hurry with some quality weeks, so don’t worry. How much are you running these days?

Wow. Good job Adeel. 3:42 was my marathon PR. 1:40 was my 1/2 marathon PR.

Not really worried about my fitness. Just sayin’.

Up until just the past 10 days, I really can’t say I was “running”. It was more practicing to run than anything. I was mostly doing short 100 to 200 meter repeats trying to gain the coordination and endurance to run in pose form.

My focus now is to do 4 runs a week ranging from 5km to 8km in distance so that I can continue to memorize the new form.

I don’t really have a plan beyond that. Kinda taking it one step at a time.

I’m open to suggestions though.

Ditch the wife, move to Albuquerque and train at altitude.
