2 miles barefoot plus a weekend away

passion for running category: barefoot running, running on Friday, May 20 2005

Did another two miles barefoot after work yesterday. That first mile was a bit tough with the soreness I described yesterday but things loosened up after that.

As part II of the bachelor festivities, my friend Tom and I are taking Aaron on a weekend getaway to a cabin in Jasper. We’re gonna do some fishing (not sure if we’ll actually catch any fish), drinking, eating and maybe even a bit of hiking. The weather forecast is looking good. Wish us luck. :)

See ya later and have a great weekend (it’s a long weekend up here in the Great White North).

awesome. have a great time away and enjoy eachother’s company! isn’t fishing all about being still, an not actually about catching anything?

Amen with Jeff’s comment! For me fishing is for meditation and when I actually get a nibble I’m all: “hey I’m meditating here!” LOL Enjoy yourselves.

Good points you two. I believe Aaron has mentioned it will be like “A River Runs Through It” a few times.

Interesting about those sore calf muscles. I’ve been trying to lean more, and that’s producing the same soreness. New muscles, I guess…have fun on your weekend:)

Mark…do you wear orthotics? If so, have you found less need for them with POSE? (I have additional follow-up questions about orthotics, arches and POSE…but will wait to hear your initial response to this).

And have a fabulous weekend…I will also be away, enjoying the Big Apple (NYC) with my graduating-from-med-school friend/sister.

Dianna: I have never worn orthodics but Aaron was wearing them before the clinic. Structured shoes and orthodics are both rejected by the pose which is all about strengthening the feet and legs and correcting form so you don’t need all that stuff. Aaron hasn’t missed his orthodics and neither of us have missed our old clunky shoes since the clinic. I will never go back to those days.

Susan: You may also be landing too far ahead of your center of gravity. That said, I have noticed soreness each time I increase distance.

:)

Have a great “boys” weekend and watch out for those bears!

Has Tom adopted the POSE method?

Mark, have you run with your old-style shoes to compare the difference to your puma’s or barefoot?
