panic and mayhem
So, yesterday I had a bit of a scare when I found out Aaron and I were not on the registration list for the POSE clinic. Thankfully, a very gracious Dr Svetlana Romanov came to the rescue and confirmed our attendance.
Then, I went to locate my birth certificate which I would need (along with driver’s license) to get through U.S. customs. First, let me just say that I SAW my birth certificate only two months ago. At that time, I remember putting it in a safe place where I’d be able to find it. But do you think I can remember WHERE that safe place IS?
NOOOOOO!
I searched for FOUR count’em FOUR (4!) hours and went to bed with an extreme amount of panic. Why so much panic you ask?
a) The Service Alberta website told me a new birth certificate takes two to three days.
b) I don’t HAVE two to three days.
c) If you don’t have a birth certificate, you definitely need a passport to get into the U.S.
d) You can’t get a passport from Canada Customs without a birth certificate.
So this was me after learning all that: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I came into work where the gal who sits next to me and who does a LOT of travelling asked if I was all set for my trip. I immediately, and with great verve, repeated the exclamatory expression above. That was when Sheila kicked into action.
Long story short: I ran to one of these in downtown Edmonton, paid $40 and will have a new birth certificate by 2:00 p.m. today.
So now this is me:

I have NO idea who this guy is. I found him using this. The picture is very appropriately named relieved.jpg.
