did you try leaning at the ankles?

The other day, I suggested you try leaning at the ankles instead of at the waist to increase your speed. Did you try the experiment? What happened?

Oh yes actually, I’ve been trying this out everyday. The first days I was like hmmm…going to fall on my face. Then just yesterday there was something subtly different. This will sound a bit sci fi but oh well, it was like an invisible force helping just a bit to ‘pull’ me forward. The end of that run my upper legs were KILLING me as was the ole derriere but my knees didn’t hurt half as much as they always do. ~raises eyebrow~ I’m really hoping today shows the same response because my leg muscles will adjust but having happy knees is very cool.

I’ve been practicing this most of the winter – it’s the main Chi running concept that I can get my body to understand. I find that I struggle less to move forward, and my feet kick up more behind me. My lower abs ache after a run when I’ve been successfully leaning forward, and my hamstrings feel it more than they used to.
