This post is in response to a few comments and emails I’ve recieved from people sounding a bit apologetic for not being as “sold” as I am on the stuff I’ve been writing about lately (e.g. POSE method & barefoot running). I suppose it is also for you silent doubters – you know who you are. :)
———————————-
I am the first to admit the things I am about to try are considered “unconvention” by most people whereas others would just say I’m nuts!

And that’s a-ok!

Let’s just call this the “not-so-great experiment” okay? If it works, you doubters owe me a beer (beer is what settles things up here in Canada!). If it doesn’t work…you still owe me a beer. :) After all, I AM conducting this experiment as much for you as for me. Ain’t I the most giving of souls? Give give give… ;)

Anyway, I can’t wait to move past the “just talking about it” stage and into the “actually doing it” stage.

I would love to run barefoot, in fact I find running on the beach in shoes borderingo n sacreligious, however I have a leg length difference, so it’s not an option for me if I want to be free of hip pain…not that I disagree, just that it wouldn’t work.

Its kind of like the streakers that run bay to breakers…..um *ouch*. I couldn’t run with out my trusty sports bras (yeah I said brasssss)

comment over…proceed to show us the way

Thanks for the comment and the point that there are a million things that can spur us toward or away from something! :)

If you find, in your Pose studies, any objective, non-anecdotal evidence that the Pose method increases efficiency or reduces injuries (as is often claimed) would you please post it? I’ve never run across (so to speak) any such evidence. But there are a lot of passionate advocates out there, to be sure! If you find any real research evidence of its benefits, I’d be glad to supply that beer!

Ooooohhh, Mark’s getting confrontational AND controversial! :D

I say, if this works out, you out me an ice cream. :)

Nancy: That is a very good observation and one which I will try to respond to. I have a thought on how to, but I need to arrange the words in my head first!

Jon: Confrontational? Nah, just a genuine invitation for discussion and having some fun. So SCREW YOU! (okay, maybe that last part is a BIT confrontational!) ;)

Come to Calgary and right or wrong….we’ll buy ya a beer. July 10th I hear there’s a great Marathon or like me you could do the half and I even bet I know a place or two you could stay real cheap (even room for wife and kid) ;-)

Yup, I’ll buy you a beer one way or another as well…like who says no to beer? Or Calgary for that matter! (from the girl that grew up in Turner Valley ;) ) I’m all for your adventureous experiments, saves me tons of effort I need to put somewhere else. ~winks and giggles~
