It was during yesterday’s run when this song somehow got into my head. It’s a really old song but something tells me it was used while I was a wee tot in an old Heinz ketchup commercial. Am I the only one who remembers that?

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled program. The reason the song popped into my head is because I was trying to do some of the stuff I read about on the Pose website and found it to be very difficult. Very very difficult. Very very very difficult. Very…

As I alternated between 100 meters of what I hope is close to “posing” and 100 meters of “normal” running, I noticed two things:

1) The pose running WINDS me very quickly, and
2) My normal running feels much heavier. I can easily distinguish the difference in the pounding my body absorbs during the normal running.

I have a LOT of work to do before will be able to run like a Poser or ChiRunner. Specifically, I have a lot of core and hamstring strength to build. A LOT.

It’s going to be a long way to Tipperary folks. More and more I am considering myself a born-again beginner runner. However, I must admit that thought is kind of liberating!

By the way, do you call it ketchup or catsup?

Hmm. You have piqued my interest. From the beginning I have tried to focus on form and footstrike and I do try to let gravity do as much work as possible. However, after reading more about the POSE method it has become clear that I have more to learn.

I call it ketchup but our son calls it checkup.

I skimmed over about your chirunning,, So when i have been out,, I try to not think of my legs and run with my core,,, kinda hard to do… but then I may be way off base and should read more of it..

AARRGGHHH!! I did type the security code and it still dumped me…golly this has been a day. ~sheesh~ Okay, what I said was: I have the distinct feeling that I had inadvertantly slipped into chirunning before…consciously. I was training for Rawanda back in ’95 and way out of my league at first…infantry boys are VERY fast and strong on hills. Anyway, it was a surreal running experience. Do you think that it’s even possible to inadvertantly chirun? Anyway, I’m committed to reading this darn book by month end…just have to buy it first. :)

Also, I call it tomatoe goop and I’m not sure why, always have. Think it’s a left over from my toddler years. ;)

It always used to be ketchup, but in our house with kids, it’s “red dip.” Reading about you re-defining your form is very fascinating to me … I’m sure Tipperary isn’t that far. No more quoting geriatric sing-along-songs … now I’ve got it running through my head ….
