A Passion for Running

Welcome to the home of Mark aka The Running Blogfather – a 40 year-old dad, husband and marathon runner who's beaten injury and is on the comeback trail!

that’s what it’s about!

This is a 100% non-running post.

Last night, Christopher had another one of his very restless sleeps. The boy is a terrible sleeper but you know that if you hang around my blog regularly.

So, this morning I woke up bleary-eyed with a Homer Simpson-like soundtrack going on in my brain something like, “must kill boy, must kill boy”.

I showered, dressed and got my lunch together and proceeded to say “see ya later” to the family. That’s when today’s gift happened.

Christopher said, “I love you daddy” for the very first time (choke) and my heart melted for the cajillionth time in the last 33 months.

With a big ol’ smile on my face, I put on my coat and yelled out “bye everyone” to which I was rewarded with another “I love you daddy”.

Choke.

Admission: It sounded more like scooby-doo saying “I ruv ru daddy” but I don’t give a damn. He said those words – twice. I swear it. :) :) :)

I’m gonna have a great run at lunch (I guess it’s only a 99% non-running post!).

Mark: You must be a great dad. By the way, many of my blogs aren’t all about running either. But personally I think that’s okay because we’re runners with hopefully lives outside of running. Smile.

Well, hope you get another “I love you” soon! By the way, I know exactly how you feel with the bleary eyes and lack of sleep. It’s a good thing that kids are so darn sweet and cute esp. when parents are operating under little sleep! lol.

Pure joy. “Must kill boy” — ha ha ha ha. Yes, I know that feeling.
I’m with you on the bleary eyes. Had one of those last night too. But it’s all worth it to hear “I love you daddy!”

In a special way, this is the most important kind of running post. At least it is in my world.

Don’t know if you’ve seen this book or whether it would help but we found it useful: Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Weissbluth. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0449004023/qid=1109710865/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-1306456-3385769?v=glance&s=books&n=507846)
