“nothing’s unpossible” weekend

passion for running category: running on Monday, November 15 2004

This post took way to long to write…

Yup. We had a great time. The 3rd annual “nothing’s unpossible weekend” is in the books. Aaron and I have a rule about the weekend – “What happens at the cabin stays at the cabin” so I won’t go into specifics other than to say two things:

1) The high point for me/low point for Aaron was a game of chess that ended in a stalemate. I’m not sure Aaron will ever forgive himself.
2) We ate, drank and smoked REALLY well!

Back to chess, I learned how to play chess from Aaron last year on this chess set. A realizaton I had while playing is that I think in terms of “Bart, Lisa, Homer, Maggie, Crusty and Marge”. Not in Kings, Queens, Knights etc. So, here’s a typical thought, “Oh damn, he got both of my Barts!”.

I will never be able to play chess on a normal set without writing things out.

For example: Bart = Knight.

Ah, sounds like a grand ol’ time. Maybe in a year or two we’ll have enough of a following to figure out some centrally located race around which we’ll have the first ever RBF weekend. Bring on the eggs and beer! Er, protein and carbs. Yeah.

Yup! Don’t think we haven’t thought about that idea Richard. That would totally ROCK!

I would love to have been a fly on THAT wall! But I understand–Jim and I have the same deal…what gets said on the track, stays on the track.

I want to go on record that I didn’t learn to play on a Simpsons chess set, so I mixed up my Krusty and Bart (that dam Bart) which was the cause of the stalemate; and for this I will NEVER forgive myself. I made sure the rest of the games I had all my Barts and Krusty’s straight!!

Holy cholesterol Batman! That’s quite the meal! For a second I thought the cigars were sausages and got really scared for your arteries! Did YOU have a food hangover after all that?!

And yes, we need to find a centrally located race-event that includes a 5K, a half-marathon and a whole marathon. =)
