A Passion for Running

Welcome to the home of Mark aka The Running Blogfather – a 40 year-old dad, husband and marathon runner who’s beaten injury and is on the comeback trail!

a new thing!

passion for running category: running, running blog family on Tuesday, November 9 2004

Sorry I have not been blogging much lately. The weekend away and work on the website has taken up alot of my time. What have I been working on you ask? Check out our new running blog map! The plotted points are based on latitude and longitude. When you mouse over a point, clickable links containing information about the RBF members will pop-up.

The map will not replace our other RBF directory. It is being published simply as a fun alternative for navigating the running blogosphere.

Over the next while I’m going to tweak the page and add all you running bloggers. You can help by leaving me a comment or sending an email (my preference is you leave a comment) with your city/town, state/province, country (if you are ok sharing) and latitude and longitude in DECIMAL format. Your doing that part will help me add everyone in 1/10th the time.

Here is some information to help you help me:

1) You can look up your latitude and longitude here.
2) Once you have your longitude and latitude, translate it into decimal points here.

You can also help by posting about this on your own blog. Spread the word and we’ll get this baby finished in no time!

One last thing: If anyone knows how to get the pop up to show who’s blogs have recently updated (like in bloglines), get in touch with me please! (this thing is partly based on xml).

(Jon, you are in the ocean! You HAVE to send me your info or that’s where you’ll stay!)

An even easier way of getting this data for some of us – just check your GPS logs!

BTW – I noticed that “Zoom In” always zooms the center of the map. Can we do something about that? And by “we” I, naturally, mean “you.”

Fresh slate
Well. Yesterday I went for an hour-long walk with Jill, which felt great at the time, but afterwards I had a headache as well as the it-hurts-to-think/move/breathe fullbody sensation. I ended up bailling on the Anthony Bourdain talk and dinner…
