I was curious why my bloglines subscription to Jon’s blog shows the link to his comments, whereas the subscription to my own did not.

Turns out when you subscribe to some blogs, you have two choices. For example, in the case of my blog the choices are:

http://www.completerunning.com/running-blog-mark/wp-rss2.php and http://www.completerunning.com/running-blog-mark/wp-atom.php

Most of my bloglines readers (you know who you are) are subscribed to the second feed – the one that ends in wp-atom.php If you want to see a link to my comments, you should subscribe to the FIRST one that ends in wp-rss2.php

Bloglines makes this easy. Put my blogs main address http://www.completerunning.com/running-blog-mark/ in the search box and select the Subscribe to URL option from the drop down list and press enter. Once you’ve done this, you will see the feed you need to subscribe to. Subscribe!

I imagine this kinda thing applies to other blogs and maybe even to news feed application/programs but I’m not sure.

Whatever you choose, it’s nice to have you aboard!

I wish I understood any of this. Yes, I live in the dark ages with Windows98SE and a 300MHz machine.

RSS is the standard. It’s been around for a lot longer. I only use the Atom feed on Blogger blogs, where it’s all that’s available.
