A Passion for Running

Welcome to the home of Mark aka The Running Blogfather – a 40 year-old dad, husband and marathon runner who's beaten injury and is on the comeback trail!

Two weeks today with absolutely no running and I’m feeling pretty gross. I’m edgy, more than a bit depressed and sluggish. Yuck.

The arch seems marginally better each day so that’s good but it sure is taking it’s time getting better. I know, I know. Being sidelined for two weeks compared to months is really nothing but I’d hazard to say it’s the first while that is the worst right?

Anyway, I know it’s not a major injury so I should be happy. The main thing I need to focus on is having the mental toughness NOT to run since that is what likely would make it a major injury.

My new goal is to shoot for Wednesday to get back at it.

Hang in there me…

Wow, this is what I call DISCIPLINE!!! I know how hard that is, when I am ill I am counting everyday not running! But for sure it will pay back! So, don’t rush, and the better you will fell when you are BACK ON TRACK ;-)
Take care.

Yuck, indeed, Mark. I know what running means to you, so its gotta be real rough having to sit it out. You’ll be glad you did though. When my ITB went splat, I could have run it real hard, but it would have taken forever to heal. You’ll bounce back soon enough, running better than ever.

Chin up, Mark. You’re moving forward. :)

Mark I am always humbled by your vision and clarity not to mention your dedication. Remember that when you again find your feet striking and toeing off as you hit the trail again, it will be with even more renewed love and appreciation for the gift of life and health and ability to do so. I’m thinking of you and sending lots of warm, healing thoughts your way.

Slow and steady, as I always tell Jon. I’m glad to hear you’re healing up, and yes, you’re right. The mental toughness is to listen to your body, in this case.
