husband, brother & uncle
Those are the non-running reasons I had for travelling to Victoria with Lori this past week.
Husband: Guess what? Lori and I were married October 9, 2002 in Victoria. The story is I was signed up to run the marathon and Lori suggested we elope. I loved the idea and…
So we came back for our second anniversary where we were married in the most beautiful place by the sea you’ve ever seen – “Beacon Hill Park”. Here is a photo from our wedding and here is another I took of the walking bridge that served as the background for the ceremony. Lovely huh?
Brother & Uncle: My brother Dan, his wife Tammy, my niece Cheyenne and brand-spankin-new nephew Tyler live in Victoria. Dan and his family are always making the effort to visit us in Alberta so it was my very pleasurable duty to return the favour. Dan and I have not been close in the past but, I find that as we age, we have more and more in common. He’s a good guy. We had a terrific time staying with him and Tammy plus it was wonderful getting to know Cheyenne and Tyler better.
So, as you can appreciate, Victoria is a very special place for me!
Here’s a picture of Lori and I taken October 11, 2004 – a couple of days after our 2nd anniversary on China Beach, Vancouver Island. Only 90 minutes north of Victoria.
In case you were wondering, the shirt I’m wearing in the pic is my hard fought for Royal Victoria Marathon sweatshirt. Nice.

Hey MArk, did you loose some weight recently
Nice pics anyway! Seems the marathon was not really the single reason for going to Victoria and you enjoyed your stay anyway. And on Monday back to work? ;-(
