I didn’t do my scheduled 10-miler today. It would have been my last long run before the marathon but I had a terrible night last night with my cold and went to bed at 8:00 pm!

I woke up feeling quite a lot better but didn’t feel one run was worth the risk of prolonging the cold any longer than necessary so I instead joined Aaron for an hour of easy rollerblading.

You know what? I have ABSOLUTELY no regrets about missing this run. I’ve been running 2+ hour long runs every Saturday for MONTHS. Much longer than is required in any marathon training program. Missing this one did not hurt me.

I’m as ready as I’ll ever be.

Good choice, Mark. One run won’t hurt you during the taper and getting well again takes top priority. Stretching a cold out for an additional week could really hurt your race.

Two weeks now? Time to start agonizing over long term weather forecasts. ;)

I admire your ability to focus on getting healthy! I could have been a little smarter about my cold! You are an example to us all.

Well done – and I’m very glad that it was as easy as it was for you. That says a lot.

yeah those little 10 milers this close to marathon time really aren’t going to do anything for you, and who knows, you might make your cold worse! Good call!
