if today was race day…

I’d have died in the first 10k!

7km at marathon race pace and boy did I ever suck. Funny how that goes huh? One day, on top of the world and then the next run feels like you’ve never trained a day in your life.

That’s okay though. It’s the hard days that build endurance. It’s the hard days that build strength and it’s the hard days that build the mental toughness you need to run the last six miles of a marathon.

So, BRING IT ON Running Gods. I’m eagerly waiting for all the crappy runs you can throw at me this next couple of weeks!

Yeah, but he’s our kinda sicko, right Pam? So anyway, what happened? And regardless of what happened, you did the run… and kicking out a hard run, as you say, brings endurance. No matter why its hard.

So, a good effort (and actually a bit faster than race pace) but too much effort was required for the workout I did today if you ask me!

Let’s see – you said it was faster than race pace, so call it 7:50, that puts your marathon time down to, what, 3:25? Good going!

Well geez, Mark, didn’t you just do the 20-miler? I think you are allowed time to heal the muscle you blew away during that blistering paced 20.

Don’t go killing yourself too badly. You are building strength now. Not much can be done to change your race now. Let the taper madness begin!
