Today, I decided to just shake the legs out. They were feeling a bit tight after Saturday’s long run so a nice light recovery run seemed in order. It meant deviating from my schedule but, as time goes by, I’m more and more comfortable changing things up. They way I look at it, as long as I get all my runs in during the week (intervals, tempo, hills, long run) I’m happy and I don’t care which days they fall on. Of course, I try to keep it fairly consistent but I also try HARDER to listen to my body.

I think being mentally flexible has allowed my body to keep physically flexible and not get injured – a possibility I keep reminding myself of everyday.

So today, instead of intervals, I ran 40 minutes nice and easy and just enjoyed the cool, sunny autumn air and didn’t worry myself with the rigours of a hard training day.

It was just beautiful out there and it reminded me of one of the best reasons I run which is that it’s just so natural and right to be outside putting one foot in front of the other.

I’m actually referring to the plunger one. You went from leaves to a plunger in two posts. I’m still laughing, thinking of Eddie Murphy in Daddy Day Care. But yeah. You’re really expanding your blog lately, and it’s cool.

Amen! I’m all about training hard and improving my times, but feeling like that is the reason I do it in the first place!
