i’m listening
My legs ached and ached all last night. They were telling me “enough”. I woke up this morning still aching. I thought about all the runners I know (Aaron, Lesley, Richard, Lara etc etc) who are injured or are freshly recovered from injury. Then, I thought about comments I’ve gotten in the last couple of days from “little sister” and Marshall around the idea of rest.
And I thought about the fact that it’s going to get very hot today and that I’ve been working pretty hard.
I need to be smart. I need to not get injured and I need to not burn myself out before the marathon in October.
So, I left the bike at home and decided today’s planned tempo run would be scaled back so I could avoid cardiac arrest in the blazing heat. I was happy to hear from Corinne this morning that she also wants to go it a bit slow.
My legs are already feeling better.
Thanks to all of you for your inspirational blogs and positive comments – they are most appreciated.
I’m grateful to the “Running Gods” for blessing me with good health and my passion for running.

You are a smart man, Mark. I’ve said it before (or at least, I’ve thought about it really loud) and I’ll say it again – “That Mark is a Smary Pants.”
