lunch run
A few years ago the City of Edmonton placed two markers consisting of boulders and a plaque exactly one mile apart in our Millcreek Ravine trail system.
The distance between the markers is known as the Peace Mile.
I’m beginning to love the Peace Mile for interval training. It’s a slow, gradual incline on the way out which means it’s a great strength training mile. On the way back, the slow decline makes it perfect for working on leg turnover.
Today, I ran the Peace Mile in 6:45 each way. I’m really happy about doing it in that time on the uphill but am puzzled as to why I didn’t run it faster on the way back? Hmmm…looks like there is definitely room to improve in the leg-turnover department!
Total distance today was 5 miles including two miles for the interval work.
It was a really good lunch run considering I biked this morning!

I’m going to repeat to myself tomorrow: Mark loves his Peace Mile, Mark loves his Peace Mile. Perhaps it will make me love my hill a little more:)
