A Passion for Running

Welcome to the home of Mark aka The Running Blogfather – a 40 year-old dad, husband and marathon runner who's beaten injury and is on the comeback trail!

happy birthday to me happy birthday to me…

passion for running category: running on Tuesday, June 22 2004

Okay, I’ll get right to the point: It’s my birthday today and If you REALLY love me you’ll all chip in and get me one of these.

I want I want I want!!! (I’m a very mature 37-year old huh?)

Let’s see…it’s about $3000 American (roughly $52,788 Canadian) so divide that between 60 of you running bloggers and it’s ONLY fifty bucks a piece!

I kill me…

Anyway, I was thinking about my feelings on turning 37 and remembered a line from the movie Wayne’s World where Wayne and Garth are in the studio flashing exotic places on the screen behind them while imagining how exciting it would be to go to those places. The last place comes on the screen and Wayne, surprised at what’s on the screen borringly says, “Or imagine being whisked away to… Delaware. “Hi, I’m in…Delaware.”

I imagine I feel the same way about 37 as Wayne felt about Delaware – it’s just sorta there, is not very exciting and I suppose I’m a bit surprised I’ve arrived.

Plans for the next 37 years are to keep on running.

You share your birthday with my mother-in-law…lucky you! LOL.

Hope it’s filled with all your favorite things (a good run, a better bike saddle, and time with family!?)

Happy Birthday, Mark! If you think 37 is boring wait for 39, which I did last week. You’re still “thirty something” and I’m “nearly 40″! You’re looking strong for an old man anyway, Mark. Onward!

Happy birthday Mark, off course, I am one day to late but it’s always due to these time zone differences! Hope you tell me your 37-experiences, I will turn 37 next year!

Happy Birthday Mark! Keep on running! Ah, the 17″ Powerbook. I used to sell Apple computers so I’m a big fan, too. Buy yourself an iPod and you’ll feel better…! :)
