good start to the weekend
Friday nights are “Family Night” for Lori, the kids and I. It’s the night we always try to do something special to bring our little possie together and hopefully get some fresh air. This Friday (last night) we mixed a little running-type business/pleasure with family night…
A couple of weeks ago, I offered to take some pictures (I used to click a shutter for a living) of Lesley and a group of gals enrolled in her latest “Running Room Women’s Only Learn to Run Clinic”. Last night she took me up on the offer so my family and I positioned ourselves on the High-Level bridge just before 7 ‘o clock and I snapped some pics that’ll be ready today. I can’t wait to see and share them with Les and her group!
Afterward, my little family ventured off to a nearby playground we’d never been to – the kids had a blast! Christopher is only 23 months old and has ZERO fear – a personality trait that sometimes scares the bejusus(sp?) outta me. I guess the good news is that worrying about him won’t cause me to lose any hair since that unfortunate event happened years ago! I suppose there is a bit on the sides and back that could still go grey but – oh well.
This morning Tom and I ran a route we haven’t seen in two years. We were missing Aaron (he’s running Bloomsday this weekend) but we still had a terrific time. The route goes east from the Kinsmen Sport Center on paved trails and, MAN is it ever hilly! I didn’t mind those hills at all though since the trail’s beauty more than made up for it’s difficulty – the route follows the deep canyoned North Saskatchewan River and reminds me a great deal of running along a mountain path.
24km later I’m a bit tired and the legs are feeling some fatigue but I’ve earned a break and look forward to a lazy afternoon and even lazier Sunday. The weather is already perfect and is only supposed to get better!
