Today I took my new Vibram FiveFinger (Five Finger) shoes for a spin for about 4 km; here is my review. I thought they were very similar to H-streets (about 80%) but a bit more sensitive to those little rocks. I did not get any blisters and I felt I had great control in them. They were really comfortable and were the closest thing to barefeet I would imagine you could be while actually wearing a shoe. I am looking forward to doing longer runs in them. They were really great to POSE in, that is for sure!!

My new shoes, whadayathink?

Here are my new Vibram FiveFinger (Five Finger) shoes. They are pretty cool to run in if you are a minimalist runner. For the last year I have been running in the Puma H-street which, as well, has no cushioning and has a soul about 5 mm thick. Mark was able to get the producer of the shoe to send us a couple of pair, so now we test. Mark just gave them to me today as I was in the middle of cycling on the magnatrainer, so I only had enough time and energy to run a couple of blocks on them tonight. So far I REALLY like them. On Friday we are going to go for about 6 km and see what these bad boys are made of. It was nice to “Pose” in them for the short distance that I did use them. For tonight I am just going to wear them around the house as slippers.

Running on Ice

Filed under: pose method, running — aaron @ 3:07 pm

The roads were PURE ice around my house last night, so I ran for 30 min on ice. You really see how small steps, high turnover, no pushing off and only pull-pull-pull while falling forward will move you. It sure keeps you honest with the POSE method. Usually I would have feared running on ice, but yesterday I welcomed it and felt very confident because the POSE does not rely on grip (I was wearing running flats). I knew these Canadian winters were good for something!!
